Tools To Succeed

Update for late 2013: Well, times change, shit happens, and networks go down the toilet. I cannot in all good conscience recommend any backlinking services anymore apart from reputable companies like Submitinme for Press Releases and the like. All the big backlink networks are either gone or not reliable.

The best hosting online and very good service too with instant chat if you ever have a problem. You need sites on different IP addresses so get a new hosting account to succeed.

And if you want to get really serious then Affordable Reseller Hosting means you can put each new site on a different IP address for maximum backlink juiciness. Do it now so you don’t regret waiting like I did.

  1. Hi Dave,

    I’d like to ask you a question on Backlink Solutions. I’m getting ready to sign up for them once they reopen their membership.

    One question: do you point them straight to specific pages on your money site, just the homepage, or to backlinks on other sites (thus funneling the link juice to your properties)?

    Same question applies to Paul’s monthly packets and Backlinks Philippines. Do you point them to specific money pages, just the home, or to backlinks on other sites?

    I hope you are having a good time in Croatia. Thanks for your time!

    Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    Hi Gurg,

    I do point all of them at my money sites as well as primary backlink sources where I can make money from better rankings, i.e Hubpages. I know many will advise against sending these type of things direct to the money sites but it won’t hurt your rankings. If it did then we could all wipe out our competition by sending them backlinks.

    But the usual disclaimer applies, I am not to be told off if your site bombs 😉 I always always send nearly all of my backlinks to inner pages not the homepage, I don’t have sites where I just want to go for 1 keyword. Send juice to inner pages and put links on those inner pages to the home page and other inner pages and the home page will rank for the main term because you will have lots of high PR inner pages all sending juice to the home page.

    Not in Croatia yet buddy, going this Friday, but thanks for the best wishes.

  2. Don’t tell me about it, I made some changes on the home page last week and I went down from #2 to #4 on my main KW.

    I had not thought about the possibility of using BP on Hubpages. D’oh!

    And I thought I’d have to wait for a long time until you replied back. In that case, have a nice trip!

  3. Is it worth using Hubpages if they take such a big chunk of your affiliate income off the top? And about how many hubs is she running to get that kind of income? Thanks Dave signing up now for some of your backlink recommendations

    Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    Sue, I think it is. Fact is they rank so well that it is worth using them at the moment. We don’t optimize for adsense though but for products. You can get a bigger slice of the pie if you try a few different layouts. i.e instead of an Amazon module top right add an image and below it use a link box, you can put an Amazon link in it.

    It doesn’t take many Hubs if you go for competitive stuff and backlink them or go the other route for longtails and build a lot, which is best is hard to say. Good luck with the backlinks programs, they should all work well for you.

  4. Hey Dave,

    What do you think about Unique Article Wizard? I am currently using it…

    Ken I have not used it so I can’t comment, sorry.

  5. Hey Dave,

    I have a question about BLS if that’s OK.

    You mention 2000 links a month, does that mean there’s a limit to how many posts you can make on their system or is that just the figure you go for each month?

    Thanks in advance.

    Ray

    Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    Hi Ray

    BLS will only allow 1000 posts a month. If they are under 300 words you get 1 link, if they are over you can get 2 links. So, although they are expensive it don’t cost much if you look at it on a per link basis. And the results are very good with them for me so far so I have no complaints.

  6. I have just setup my first Amazon site. I wasn’t going to make it an authority blog because I just want to get the feel for promoting the products and trying get onto Google page 1 if possible.

    Looking at the tools above I am going to use the Free Traffic System, PJS Quality Backlinks and I was just about to buy MAR. Just a quick question, should I really go for the double package to include the submitter as well?

    Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    Colin a few people have asked me this and to be honest I really don’t know. I have only used the MAS a little but always with other backlinks work so I don’t know how effective it is. It does show up as making links but how good they are I am not sure. It is a one off payment though so may be worth getting, but it is down to what you feel is best, and, as always, money.

    But MAR is fantastic and pjs packs work like a dream although it will numb your brain and make you want to cry. But the serps results are more than worth it. I did it month in month out for ages as it works so well. Now I use Backlinks Philippines as I am swimming in money 😉 Just make sure to do manual link building to to mix up the backlink profile nicely and you will be on to a winner.

  7. Thanks Dave.

    You’ll need to excuse my ignorance on link building but when you refer to manual link building and backlink profile, what do you mean?

    I realise that the manual backlinking would be doing it yourself but what are you referring to with backlink profile?

    Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    Colin by backlink profile I just mean the backlinks that you have to a site. So a backlink profile is just the links pointing to your domain, and the more varied it is the better. A good mix of forum profiles, article directory links, Infobarrel, Hubpages, Squidoo, yousaytoo, snipsly, ezinearticles, postrunner blogs etc. The more the merrier is the way to go. i.e never just go for automated stuff, they work well but who knows what the future holds, we want to safeguard our stuff.

  8. Hi (again :))

    I currently have a site with 5 keyword/phrases on the same domain that I want to promote and have also purchased the PSJ backlinks. So I have my 50 for Septemeber. Should I split that 50 between the 5 keywords?

    Thanks

    Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    @Colin Young,

    Most sites will let you put 5 links in so I would go for that and just use the main terms on the sites that only allow 1 or 2 links.

    Just be ready for some google dancing if the site is new. And make sure you keep building links from other sources too.

    Well, that’s what I would do anyway 😉

  9. Are you still using Onlywire for high PR forum profiles? Or is there another effective way to bookmark them?

  10. Dave,

    Can you explain a little more about where you are sending links fromBacklinks Philippines ? Do you use all 5 links in each profile to point at one domain (different URL’s), do you point them at 5 different domains, or are you mixing them up differently each time?

    I’m struggling to understand how to use this service to get the best results – you reported on 1 site which is why I think you might be using all 5 links on just 1 site….

    Thanks

    Ray

    Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    @Ray,

    Ray I have done a mixture of both. But it would be best if you send all the links to relevant content on different sites or just to 1 site for 5 posts.

    I mostly do it to 1 site though and the results are very good. But nothing wrong with throwing a Hub or 2 in there, they react very well to these kinds of links once they settle down after the onslaught 😉

    @Dave, Thanks Dave, I appreciate all the help and advice you give here. I’m going to try this out later today – probably the 80 link service to start – I’ll make sure I do it through your link. You probably don’t earn much from that sized order, but as Tesco say, “every little helps”

    Hope Espana is treating you well, I used to live there myself.

  11. Hi Dave,

    I currently use TKA and PJS backlinks. I will start using the other free one as well for the 30 links. Also, I will buy some backlinks from the Philipines as well

    Can I ask, in your opinion, if I set up a niche site then what order would you do things in? Should I write PR’s for a month then load on the other stuff after that?

    Colin

    Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    @Colin Young,

    Colin I would definitely go with Postrunner for a month or two. Add in Ezinearticles, amazines, articleblast, Infobarrel, Squidoo, Snipsly, Shetoldme, Hubs (gasp), Yola, Devhub, etc.

    Then begin with small forum profile packages and gradually ramp up to lots of more bulk automation with maybe MAR etc. But just my opinion, I just don’t want anyone losing rankings because of my advice. It all has to be a personal judgment call. Just mix it up a lot and never rely on just one source.

  12. I just need some clarification on the following statement made above.. (thanks for all your great information by the way)..lol

    “Add in Ezinearticles, amazines, articleblast, Infobarrel, Squidoo, Snipsly, Shetoldme, Hubs (gasp), Yola, Devhub, etc.” ?

    do you use a linkwheel with the list given above?or just a direct link to Amazon or your authority site (internal pages) from these various web properties?

    Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    @vashti,

    I usually link straight to inner pages. I don’t really do homepage links much. I am not a fan of thin linkwheels either. I don’t add links from satellite sites to my main site until they are a strong presence in their own right.

    I have a number around a niche that I need to work on in the new year then I will link to my main site, all on reseller hosting though for different ips.

    Is this what you do? Or are you looking to build something different?

  13. Dave,
    Are you still using Backlink Solutions or have they lost their efectiveness?

    Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    @DaveB,

    Honestly I have not used it much for a few months. I now have a fear of the dreaded spinning 😉 But they still do work when I use it. 100 spun articles does improve rankings, but honestly I have not used it enough lately to be sure if it still works as well.

    @Dave, Thanks for the info. I finally have some income to spend and was looking for the best tools to use.

    Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    @DaveB,

    No problem, if you can afford it then it really does make the difference and allows you to work quicker and earn more.

  14. Hey Dave I am interested in ordering through your links. For backlink solutions do you have to spin readable content.Also how many links do you throw at hubpages and how long does it take them to rank? You say you are not using backlink solutions, what are you using now to rank hubpages? Thanks this is the best blog I’ve seen.

    Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    @Martin,

    It does need to be readable content but nothing too fancy. But you can’t use it for Hubs, they have cracked down and are deleting Hubs if they are getting links from automated sources. If they find out then there goes your work. I use Postrunner and BMR for ranking them.

    20 or so Build My Rank articles is a good place to start but it depends on how tough the keywords are really. Hope that helps Martin.

  15. Thanks Dave,
    So you are able to rank with just Build My Rank articles and Postrunner.

    I was using forum profiles and made about $3000 last December but like you said hubpages is cracking down on spam link building. I would outsource hundreds and hundreds of profile links to the hubs until they hit number 1. I have had hubs being deleted. Are you still able to get them to rank without any forum profiles?

    I am interested in Build My Rank. Can you use it on more than one hub?

    I want to know how to rank hubs without forum profiles and rank them as well and as fast. I can’t believe you give out so much of good free info. Will purchase the right tools based on your recommendation.

    Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    @Martin,

    It is a real shame but what can you do? With Build My Rank you can get very good results, you can rank Hubs no probs. Their packages differ in price now but you can get good results no doubt.

    Great for Squidoo too and anything else. You can use it on as many Hubs as you want, although for the basic package now and even using the tips to have Hubpages as your 5 active domains it means a max of 50 links to Hubs a day unless you get the more expensive package.

    Vote -1 Vote +1Martin Reply:

    @Dave, I got the 10 free links through the link and will pay monthly after it’s over. So I should use hubpages as all my 5 active domains. Then I think the basic is only good for low hanging fruit right? I will give that a go for awhile to see how they rank and upgrade as neccessary.

    This is completely white hat right or at least not against hubpages TOS. I don’t want the moderators to take down my hubs again. When I start making income again with hubs I’ll be sure to come back and donate for bothering you so much. It used to be so easy with hubs. Thanks.

    Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    @Martin,

    No promises from me 😉 As far as I know there is no problem using it for Hubs, they are just against automated links. We have been using it for ages now with no problems at all.

    It may be better to only send ten or less to each Hub in a day, maybe it would raise a flag if 50 went to a single Hub but to be honest I don’t know.

    But try Squidoo, they rank well and you can blast ’em. And the Squidutils Amazon posters rock but you give away 1 in 10 clicks.

  16. Hi Dave

    Been enjoying your blog and your unique view of life:-) I have signed up for the Build My Rank trial and have been writing a few posts today. I’m on to post 3 and wondering – do they have to target my keywords or does irrelevant stuff still work? Interested in your views on this and what you do personally. I don’t want my BMRs competing with my money site if I target the same keywords.

    Thanks
    Rachel

    Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    @Rachel,

    I have only ever had one BMR article competing with me and that is because I sent it some links. Damn thing won’t go off page 1 now.

    But for others I usually do always put the hardest of the KW term in the post title to make it the most relevant to my term. But I wouldn’t use longtails in your titles or chances are they will rank well.

    Just crank em out though and don’t worry too much ab out it. If you do enough then you will only be worrying about where to spend your money as you rank so well yourself 😉

  17. Hey,

    A quick question regarding the reseller hosting you link to. Are the different ip addresses you get for each site different enough to make a difference? Some one said to me that you really need different ‘c’ class ip addresses to make a difference rather than an address where only the last couple of digits are different.

    Does that make sense?

    Jamie

    Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    @Jamie Sandford,

    They are all different. Some are in the UK, and then on different US coasts.

    It has def made a difference to use them for support sites. We built 10 or so around a niche, let them age a good many months and then stick a couple of links in on the home page.

    The good thing is that even though they are 5-20 page sites then also make money in their own right and also give you a proper genuine quality link to the main site.

  18. Hey Dave,

    do you still use and recommend Backlinks Philipines? I’ve never used but was thinking of giving it a shot …

    What about Bookmarking Demon? Have you ever used or recommend this one?

    Thanks!

    Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    @Bruno,

    Never used bookmarking demon but BP still does the job great. Don’t use it on new sites or sites with minimal backlinks though, best for sites with plenty of other links in the mix or Web 2 stuff apart from Hubpages.

  19. Hey Dave,

    Interesting debate though. Apart from anything else though I would simply mix up hosting accounts in case of server problems, as someone stated. Eggs in 1 basket and all that.

    Vote -1 Vote +1Jamie Sandford Reply:

    @Dave, Quite. And hosting can be so cheap now that if you can put each domain on a different ip I don’t know why you wouldn’t. But I can see how it is probably more effort than it’s worth to untangle and transfer a bunch of add-on domains.

    Have you moved a wordpress blog from one host to another? I have, very boring first time round.

    @Jamie Sandford,

    I did it for this site. It is now on its own hosting with no other of my sites. I did it because someone went through literally a thousand sites to see if they could find mine.

    I nearly had a fit doing it then a lovely bluehost tech gut did it in about 5 seconds!

  20. Hi Dave,

    I found your blog yesterday and have really enjoyed reading the posts. I am about 1 month into my Internet marketing career I have decided to start with one website and make it work before I try anything else. It is a review website for an amazon product. I am really happy with it as my first website but have reached my limit with on site seo I am stuck at about position 20-25 for all my keywords. I have decided to try the profile links from the Philippines as a start. I have looked at the build my rank website but have found it has quite a few negative reviews in some forums. Do you think tgis is due to a lack of effort on their behalf as i see that you really do rate it, just wondered why it had negative reviews? Anyway I want to take action so will let you know how I get on. Thanks again for the good info.

    Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    @Mark,

    Welcome to the site. If you have decent rankings in a month then you are certainly doing well. I would not go mad with forum profile links on a new site, just get a few. They really work best on sites that already have a good link profile.

    In all honesty, and hand on heart, I don’t know why BMR would have bad reviews. They rock, and it is by far the easiest way to get links and to improve your search engine rankings. That and Postrunner from The Keyword Academy are about as good as it gets currently for ease of getting links.

    Hope your site does well, Mark, and let me know how it goes.

    @Dave, Thanks for taking the time to reply, I have made an order of link from Backlinks Philippines yesterday and have started to write 300-350 word articles ready for build my rank I will give it a try but want to have all the articles ready so I get maximum effectiveness out of it I know if I say write 10 articles a day that I will not be able to stick to it so I will need some in as a buffer.
    Just out of interest have you ever tried scrapebox as I read on another blog that it was recommended another was sick submitter.
    I Will check back with results. Hopefully good ones.

    Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    @Mark,

    I haven’t tried either. To be honest I don’t like doing anything that is comment spam, although I know both do a lot more. If you use either just make sure not to get carried away or anything that could have a webmaster complain about your site spamming them. You need to be careful with forum profiles from those tools, it can get seriously spammy very quickly.

  21. Hi,
    I am a newbie and with that I really meant newbie. I here they say it is easy to join the Amazon affiliate, but I am finding even that difficult. They are asking for my website and a description of what is my website about. I gather that I need a website to be able to join the Amazon affiliate,but have no clue of how to create a website. After some research, I ended up buying the flex squeeze them. It is all over the net that use ReviewAzon plugin for easy set up of you site. I bought the plugin, but things would not display they way they show you on their site. After spending a full day, I decided to ask for my money back,because the reason I bought this software was to make my life easy and not to spend a considerable amount of time on every little issue. Basically I am stuck. Leaving the hypes aside, my question is what is the easiest way of having an amazon site without worrying about CSS and al the rest(I am no techie as you have already guessed it) and also how do I get accepted by Amazon when I don’t have a website?. Your helkp is appreciated.

    Tony

    Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    @Tony,

    Basically just join Hubpages.com

    Make a Hub and then apply to Amazon using that Hub or your user profile, can’t remember which one they prefer.

    I would forget about using plugins, you are better off adding in Amazon links yourself. You can learn how to do it once you get accepted.

    For getting a website up, get your hosting and then go to the cpanel. Then find where it says wordpress and go through the installation process. Then you can choose from literally hundreds of themes to make it look how you want. You then simply write posts about your topic and put in your Amazon links.

    That is basically it in a nutshell. Once you have done it a few times it is simplicity itself.

It just makes you thing twice before you buy anything if every time you have to go through this.
