For some reason the goal of making $100 a day with blogs or websites is the Holy Grail for many people looking to make money on the Internet. For many this is seen as a cut off point to knowing that you can make serious money, and for others it is a goal to quit the day job and make money solely from bogs (TYPO BUT OFTEN APPROPRIATE) via Internet marketing.

This post will tell you how to earn $100 a day from blogs.

But, and you knew there was going to be one, if you are lazy, un-motivated and not willing to put in the time and effort then you may as well not bother reading any more. Anyone who tells you that making money via Adsense or affiliate programs is easy is a liar. Well, I did say making money on the Internet was easy is that post but that was in terms of just putting in the work once you know the basics of how things are done and how search engines work. The work is the main thing that you need to be persistent with.

In this article I will be keeping things fairly basic so many readers may know some, or most of what I say already, but if you have been in this game for more than 6 months to a year, after knowing the basics, then if you are not making $100 a day, especially after a year, then I think you are not motivated enough to do it. Or something is seriously amiss.

The Make A $100 A Day Magic Formula

Pleeeeeeeease. If you see that and you probably have, then I bet it was for an e-book right? Keep the cash and buy a few domain names, it will be money better spent. Let’s go through the basics of what we need to know to make a good daily income from writing blogs for money:

  • Send me $50 and I will let you enter my secret club (just joking) πŸ˜‰
  • We need to know how to do basic keyword research, I now prefer to often use Wordtracker
  • We need to know how to get keyword specific backlinks. Use the Postrunner system, it is $1 for the first month and the best way to get some quality backlinks apart from the other items on the sidebar
  • We must know that we should write post titles with the words we want traffic for
  • And we must write lots of content. And I mean lots and lots and lots and……..

Job done.

It doesn’t sound like much does it?

It took me a long time to get to that understanding. Now it sounds so simple. I spent months and months getting backlinks from places like Ezinearticles with just the full URL of blog posts, no keywords at all. It won’t hurt sites long term to have a good mix of links like that but it is not the most direct of routes to ranking well in search engines.

The basics are basic but only once we know them.

We need to get links to our blog posts from anywhere we can. Use Infobarrel, shetoldme, and the millions of article directories out there. And never stop until every post you wrote is at number 1 in the main search engine. You should always use revenue sharing sites like those linked to for backlinks if possible, you make money at the same time. We made $7 from Infobarrel yesterday, just for having backlinks (no brainer).

Have post titles that are the exact term people will be typing in to a search engine and then write a post around that topic.

Do it over and over again.

Okay, a little simplified but that is basically it. Let’s get down to some kind of formula for making $100 a day in six months. I think many could do it if they put in the work, I know I could make more than that extra in six months, and you can believe I will. So, here is my recommendation for how to do this, it is not to be copied exactly, rather it is an example of how I personally would go about it, we are all different, and all have different ways of going about blogging to make money, this is what works best for me.

But first, some expectations. Let’s say you know the basics about what is written above. Backlinks, post titles, domain names etc. Took me six months as I was an idiot but this site, sites like Grizz’s and others are a real shortcut to knowledge.

A year of making content and working hard, every evening and all weekend or all day 5 days a week ifΒ  you have no job:

$12, 000 a month.

I think that is obtainable and where we are at now for good months. Christmas could see you doing much more if you do the right products. We have that with two people working pretty much full time every day but as we are paranoid there is a lot of overlap with content and often we skip some work time for other chores. I think that at the least a person who is dedicated and puts in hours every day should be on $9, 000 a month or $300 a day, a lot of work but for a year and then to be your own boss it is worth it, no?

So, how to at least obtain $100 a day blogging?

You must put in the work and that is most important. Here is a rundown of how I would go about it:

Firstly I would not choose Adsense as my business model, it is too restrictive and if something happens to the account it is back to zero. Rather go for using Amazon or be an affiliate for one of the thousands of companies that are on cj.com.

To start I would buy a good 20 or so domain names.

Do keyword research to look at a niche that has lots of products within it. Personally I would not think too niche like pink belts for fat women but go for something more general like cheapbelts.com.

For each of those sites you then have the opportunity to write posts until you are sick of it, and you will be, and if you are not then you are not working enough. For each site simply go through them all for a few months adding content. Write about branded products and general keywords, buying keywords though.

Little tip time (hooray)

Once you have a general niche look at all the products within it on Amazon. As you type a product in to amazon or a general term a drop down list appears with the top searches people have typed in relating to that term. Write a post about each one of those terms using the exact same terms. You know people are doing searches for them, regardless of those lying keyword research tools many spend too much time using (just me guys, sorry, no offence).

I digress (I know, I know)

So, if we buy cheapbelts.com we can pretty much guarantee that if we rank for the main term we will get some traffic. I haven’t looked at any tools but there is no doubt that people will be searching for that a little. But even if the results are poor for that term the point I am trying to get across is that we are not making a sniper site as many like to call sites that target one keyword. We are being bold and we are going to dominate every keyword there is to do with our niche.

We will get an initial 20 or so articles on each of as many sites as we possibly can buy for a set of general keywords. We will then write product specific posts about an item. We can go a number of options here and for our main domain name. We can try to go for belts.com which is very unlikely or beltreviews.com or cheapbelts.com or whatever is available and takes our fancy.

Reviews is a popular word for searchers to type and should be part of some of your domains. Cheap, buy, best price, for sale etc are all words good for domains but also for specific product posts. Just get on with it and just get the main term in the domain name. We are targeting everything within our niche so are not just relying on ranking for the domain name, but obviously the better it is the more traffic we will eventually get.

I can pretty much guarantee that if you get a good number of such sites up and running and use Amazon or another affiliate program you will be making good money in six months time and in a year you will be retiring the day job.

What you will find is that some of the sites you have written lots of content on and allowed to age will get lots of traffic with little backlinks, or at least an OK level. Others will be useless at converting and people simply will not buy. It is a numbers game. No one makes all their blogs successful. A number of them will begin to shine. They will draw more traffic and this traffic will convert in to sales better. You will discover this as you go. Some will be real winners and it is at this point, after a number of months, that you should begin to change direction.

See which sites are making the most money. See which ones convert the easiest in to sales. And then go full out bonkers on them.

  • Get content on them every day
  • Use every buying keyword you can think of for each product in as many posts i.e post titles as it takes
  • Write and write some more
  • Fill the site with as many keyword rich post titles as you can bear, then do some more
  • Get backlinks every day to the winning websites that make you money
  • Hone it in until you are working a few sites as much as possible
  • Make some new sites with slightly more specific or niche topics that you have found convert well, maybe pink belts for fat women did convert well after all. Buy the domain, get new hosting from the banner on the side. Set up the site and now you can not only get more positions in the search engines for a popular term you know makes money but you can link to your main site and get more traffic and a backlink too.
  • Expand the best money making blogs until you have lots of sites that are within the niche all linking to your main site. Or go full out adding content and backlinks all the time to one site
  • Write about your topic everywhere you can. Get backlinks from everywhere. Day after day send more links to improve ranklings (another appropriate typo)
  • Do not stop until every article you have written is number one in the search engines.
  • This will be your life

Sounds like fun, doesn’t it?

Bet you don’t bother and stay working for the man.

Me, I have a Thai Island to buy so need to get back to work.

Just because it is the best Anime ever, I dare you to disagree. For those who don't watch anime, aah.

Many people will simply say I am being unrealistic about how much you can earn. I don’t think so. We are surprised how well we now do on some days and I know a lot of people are a lot more focused than us. Hell, five o’clock for us is pretty much vino time and no evening work is ever done. Others will have to work only in the evenings as they have jobs. If you want to give up your day job in a year then you need to tell family and friends you are out of the picture until late evening and are going to make money online. They will laugh at you.

It happened to my girl. She got laughed at for saying we were going to make money online. Now we make more in a day than many people earn in a week so in your face is what you can think to anyone who thinks you won’t make it.

You can. A years hard work out of a lifetime is a small sacrifice to then have your own hours and give up the job you hate. Your life is then open to whatever you want to do. You can work anywhere in the world with an Internet connection. Your whole life will completely change and you will no longer be a slave to the man.

Cool huh?

This work is not glamorous, but it is exciting. You get up in the morning having no idea if you have made $100, or $600, it is as variable as it can possibly get. But the best part is that when you are out with friends or family on the weekend and your thousands of pages of Internet content are still being looked at by Internet searchers you are still earning, beautiful.

I hope this has motivated you. You can do it if you put in the hours, it is all about hard work. But after a year, who knows, you could take it easy if you have reached your goals and be living the life you always wanted. Just get to it and work hard.

Buy domain names about a general topic.
Write posts using the exact words for your title people type in to a search engine.
Keep doing it for every popular item in your niche.
Do it some more.
Then again.
Use every buying keyword there is in your post titles.
Make a site that is simple but looks nice.
Do it over again.
Get backlinks to every post but just a few for the first few months.
Get more links until you rank higher and higher for every post you have.
Never give up.

  1. Hola Dave,

You seem to have carried on from where Ben left off. Very informative post. I am glad to be able to confirm that I am doings things right – sort of – but I know that I need to increase on the amount that I write and publish in order to improve on my current earnings. But hey, everyone has to work at their own pace.

Thank you for the brilliant tip about using the drop down lists generated from Amazon themselves. I will certainly use this to write my new articles for the dot.info sites that I have just bought.

    Hey Tiptopcat,

Glad you stopped by. I have been doing the Amazon thing myself a bit more the last few days. I am doing a month long experiment on a site I forget about. Using that drop down list technique, it is great for quick research to rattle of posts, and you know people are searching for them. 100 new posts this month on a previously only 5 post rich site to see what happens earnings wise.

You are right about pace, we all need to do what we feel comfortable with but we also know that the more content we have the more money we have. Where does it end?

  2. Hi Dave,

I found this really cool furniture website online. It has a page or post (not quite sure) that always appears on the homepage. I was wondering if you could explain how to set that up on a WordPress blog.

    Hey Andy,

How are you doing. I was meaning to get in touch with you soon to say hi.

To get a sticky for the home page I go to appearances then editor and then open the main index template. Then post whatever code or text just after where it says “if have pΓ²st the post” or something very similar to that. And for anything you want sitewide do the same in single post.

I have been doing lots of messing with extra snippets of text etc lately. i.e making things look more shop like and having the blog posts below the fold, seems to be working well.

But you can also make a home page sticky but in the reading settings but I don’t find it as versatile.

    Hope that helps.

Are you trying a few things out to see about some more dinero? Daft question really. Hey, I just got up.

  3. Dave,

Thanks for that. I knew there had to be a “simple” way of doing it. But until I knew what to do it was hard as hell!

This has started off as a great make money online blog and I hope your advice will help me improve my sites this year.

I’d be interested to hear more about Postrunner. I couldn’t see anything about it through the link you provided above.

Thanks for that, it is nice to put some of my musing down, although I won’t really be generating any backlinks myself, more just a nice release to all the ideas that keep popping up. But links from others, well………

The keyword Academy don’t really talk too much about the postrunner system in their blurb but it is all there once you sign up. Basically it is an interface where you have the ability to write a 300 word article with a couple of in post links and then there are a ton of different sites, i.e wordpress blogs for you to choose from to submit an article to. There are different categories and you can take a look at the site before you submit. Lots are just normal blogs with article directories as well. You are shown their PR etc before you choose.

It has worked well so far with generating backlinks form lots of different ips. And, and you will be interested in this, you can add your own site. Olive articles is in there and I can tell you it is a big sigh of relief from me and the good lady. The members all adhere to the rules, i.e no spun content, no duplicate content. We now get tons of good quality content for our article site every day without having to sift though so much crap being submitted. You may want to try it for a month on your directory. Affiliate link or not, for a buck give it a go. It certainly beats the quality of freetrafficsystem in so far as you manually approve everything sent to you and your submissions to others are the same.

I signed up for the month initially but will be keeping the membership. Even just for the content you can get to your own site it is worth it, but to be able to simply get backlinks easily and from lots of varied blogs that are actually on topic makes it a real winner. Their forum is pretty good too, although I think I will have to stop going there as these things can be a bit of a time sink, but good for a look though for info.

  4. Hi Dave –

Nice to see you’ve got your own site…you always had some great input over at Ben’s Forum.

I’ve been moving more into the Amazon type sites myself. What do you do with those sites that don’t convert for your product (but maybe get’s some random sales thanks to the cookies)? Do you just leave up the ads and move on to next site? Put on Adsense and hope for some clicks? I’ve been doing a bit of both, at least I earn a few bucks a month.

keep up the good work on the site.

    Hi Pete,

I have a few real stinkers. One site gets 100 people a day with hardly any backlinks and all for buying keywords. It converts like a nightmare. What can you do? On to the next one. I would try messing with the theme a little to see if it then converts better but sometimes it is just best to move on.

Glad to have a comment from you and thanks for the kind words.

  5. Great post Dave, I’m enjoying your blog. I like the Amazon search suggestions tip too.

I’m determined to be at the $100/day point (or much more) by this time next year. I should be there already, but until recently I’ve been too lazy and inconsistent. Still, no point whining about it – time to get back to work! πŸ˜€

    -1 Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

Thanks Cat, the Amazon drop down search button has led to some good finds for me for what people are looking for as well as how they type things in. Hope it gives you some ideas.

I am sure you will be there in less than a year. It really does seem to happen quite quickly after sites reach a certain age if you keep getting the content online and backlinking it all up. For us it seemed to change quite a lot very rapidly as we just kept plugging away at our sites.

It is whisky and coke o’clock for me now so no more work for today.

    Burp. ‘scuse me.

  6. Okay weird question.. how do you get at least 300 words of text in your post when you’ve covered the topic over and over again on your blog?

I guess I’m just wondering if the info. sounds repetitive after writing thousands of pages on same niche.

For example, if the site is about Legos (just an example) then how can you really have unique content for each page. Red legos, green legos, darth vader legos, luke skywalker legos, etc.

What exactly can one go on about when the product is something simple like this and doesn’t really need a review?

Also, would this work the same for a regular website as opposed to a blog?

    -1 Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    Hi Zoe

The sad truth is that you simply write it again for the new keywords you are targetting. It does get repetitive, no doubt, but for a new post title you need new unique content. Even if you are writing about the same subject over and over each time you write a unique post it will come out different.

You also just need to try to think of a new angle. If it was Lego then yes write about all the different Lego, and even tell a story about what the kids made, something like that. Exactly the same for a website.

  7. nice post. thanks.

  8. Hi Dave,

Just came across this site from the make money online with seo forum and I’m really glad that I did. I’ve been hit pretty hard by the May Day update and in hindsight, it should have been easy to prevent that disaster by focusing on other diversification but I just didn’t want to think it could happen to me.

Needless to say, my adsense income went from $40-50 a day to $5-10 as all my xfactor type sites were pushed down too 100+ rankings. This happened in the beginning of June and to be honest I was really bummed out but hey, life goes on and now I know I need to plan ahead in the future and not rely so much on a single method and source of income.

And I’m really glad I came across this post as it almost seems TOO simple. Build a site, write content on targeted keywords, write on products that people are actually buying, send backlinks, write more content until your fingers ache and continue the process until that $100 a day goal is achieved.

I have yet to read the massive Amazon post but I will as soon as I get through the posts before it as my head is already spinning with a ton of ideas of what I can do.

Thanks again for all the helpful information,

    -1 Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    Hi Hann,

Glad you are finding the site useful. It seems an awful lot of people lost a lot of rankings, luckily we didn’t. It really does seem that exact match domains are not worth what they were and lots of content and backlinks from many sources is much more important now. I am sure if you build up the sites you have they will return in the rankings, but it is a very good idea to make money from a good few sources.

The Amazon post is a bit of a biggie so I would read it when you have a clear head πŸ˜‰

Looking at it now I am amazed I managed to get through spell checking it, which was tedious to say the least. Hope you enjoy it though.

If you do what you say, i.e

Build a site, write content on targeted keywords, write on products that people are actually buying, send backlinks, write more content until your fingers ache and continue the process until that $100 a day goal is achieved.

Then that $100 a day will be there sooner than you think.

All the best and keep in touch.

  9. Hi Dave,

Thanks so much for getting back to me and I definitely agree that exact match domains have lost a lot of their value. Seems like Google finally caught on to as how easy it was to snipe certain keyword phrases.

As of right now, I’m not going to spend too much time on the current adsense sites I have but may add some content and backlinks occasionally. I think the biggest problems with these sites is that it’s kind of hard to make them broad since the topic is so specific.

I’m just using this opportunity to focus on building out more general authority sites as this seems to be a much better model for me. And thanks for the words of encouragement! I know at this point, it all just comes to really focusing on making my desire a reality.

Anyway, I’m thinking that with your mega posts, you’ll become the next Ben or even the next Grizzly πŸ™‚

  10. Can you explain this part a little better?

“We will get an initial 20 or so articles on each of as many sites as we possibly can buy for a set of general keywords. We will then write product specific posts about an item”

What are these initial 20 articles if they aren’t product specific? How many articles in total do you think would be enough to tell whether or not the site will be a dud or not?

Also, can you think of any reason why .info domains wouldn’t work for this?

    -1 Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

You can do a site how you want. All I was saying is that normally if you make a site for a range of products you can have titles like “Buy Cheap White Socks” etc then also stuff like “Cheap Men’s Quarter Athletic White Socks For Sale” and get really specific.

But you can mix it up any way you like. Some keywords will simply rank better and easier and will convert better. I would get a good ten plus articles up to see what happens but basically just keep on forever building a site until you run out of keywords, as it ages you will see if it converts for sales well or not, if not get on to the next project. .info sites are fine as far as I am concerned, as long as they are not 5 post sniper style, which is no good whatever the domain at the moment it seems.

  11. Hey Dave,
First of all, thanks for sharing the knowledge. Really appreciate it.
I’ve been looking around the site for a few days now and I think I get the general idea, however I have a few burning questions which I’d like to ask you if I may? Hoping you’ll say yes, so here goes….

“Reviews is a popular word for searchers to type and should be part of some of your domains. Cheap, buy, best price, for sale etc are all words good for domains”
    1) I have several good keyword domains that I am considering using. Does the domain name HAVE to have buying words in it or can I compensate for this in the description/meta tags/post titles?

    2) I read your epic post about making money with Amazon (expect a donation, insane detail) and I digested the information about text link and buy button placement etc. Will I need to place text links and buy buttons on every post?

There were other questions which I wanted to ask but I am too tired to remember them! Hope these questions made sense.
Almost midnight here in the UK and I have to be up in 6 hours to head to work (SIGH!). Bet you don’t miss that shit do you?

    Thanks in anticipation.

    Hey Fromainer

    Funky Gravatar Dude.

I would say that you do not have to have the buying terms in the domain, especially if you are going for a brandable site. It can be any domain and you can still rank for terms, especially if you use your keywords as the name of the site or the description. And I think after May the domain name is given less weight in terms of boosting rankings, but exact match keyword domains will always give a little boost, how much, who knows?

It depends on the layout of the site where you put your affiliate links. In my post on ranking in google I think I mentioned my best site has no links at all, or images in posts, they are all just in a list above the fold and on the sidebars. But if a site is going to be about hundreds of different times then an image and a buy link works well. But for just a few items you could offer the option to buy before the searcher even gets to a post on the page.

Certainly don’t miss that. Got up at seven thirty today which is early for me. Am typing this just before eight with a coffee. Then it will be a sit outside for a while in the early Spanish Sun before I do my work back at the laptop for the day. Give it a year and you could be doing something very different too.

    All the best

  12. I would just like to say, that is the only anime I have ever watched. And that they are probably going to butcher it when they make a live action movie of it.

And that I can’t break $500/month with amazon sites.

    -1 Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

I absolutely love it. Check out Lain and Boogiepop Phantom, Samurai Champloo is great too.

Mike $500 is good, just carry on with the linking and the only way is up.

I have seen good improvents by using the related searches and the wonder wheel too and adding in those terms as H2’s, gives the content more authority and helps boost rankings, not to mention getting more longtails.

  13. PS wrong. Just wrong.
