The more comments I get here and the more I read elsewhere it seems that people really do want a foolproof system to make guaranteed money online. Well, this is exactly what we are going to have here. A guide to making roughly a thousand dollars in 30 days.

I will say right from the get go that if you are lazy, can’t (i.e won’t) work for a minimum of 2 hours every day, 7 days a week, for a month, then stop reading now and stop moaning about the day job. Making money on the Internet is difficult, in so far as it takes a lot of your time to get anywhere.

Anyway, we are going to spend the next month working on 1 single article that we will write and making that article make us $1000 dollars a month for a long time to come. Now, it goes without saying that if you pick the wrong niche, the wrong product, or have a crappy article and it is laid out like your Dog was sick on it then you can forget earning the good money.

So, we need to ensure that we have a nicely designed article and that it is well written. We want an Amazon image at the top of the article that you link to the product itself or my personal preference now is to link to a search result for that product. We will also want a very prominent link for people to click on to buy the product.

You will need to put this article on a site that is at least 3 months old and has had regular backlinks to its content already. If your site does not currently rank on page 1 for a good number of terms then you have not been doing your work properly for the site and need to get your ass in to gear.

If you have no suitable site then use Hubpages. Update for 2012, forget Hubpages. Use another Web 2.0 such as webs.com or something similar. Yes, they take a big chunk of the cash so minimize that by using a static image top right and use a link module below that with your Amazon link to the product. Then use Amazon modules lower down in the article.

First off you have to spend a dollar. Sign up to the The Keyword Academy so that you can use their Postrunner system. If you haven’t already done this then you are missing out on the least time consuming way to get backlinks bar none. If you don’t like it after the first month then cancel your account, you will have lost a dollar.

There are also going to be a few other affiliate links throughout this article. Use them or not, but after we have been using these tools we have made so much more money and saved so much time it is not even funny. But if you doubt the value or are totally hard up then do the work manually, it is absolutely up to you.

Either read all this now or bookmark it and come back to each step.

  1. Keyword research. Forget Adwords use Wordtracker. We are not messing about here guys, pick a tough Keyword. Something that gets at least 1000 searches a day or at least something close. We are going to be playing with the big boys from now on. No looking for those “greens” and those longtails to make a dollar every other day, we are going for hard stuff. Do not look up the competition in Google, forget about it. Just pick a very popular item or search term that gets 1000 people plus a day. You also want an item that has a few other highly searched terms. It could be a single item that is popular in different colors or it could be a single item that people use a few different main search queries for, either way it must be high traffic. Now write your article. You want a short main post title, no buying keywords here just the main term. If it is socks then it is socks. Then we will have four or five sub-headings through the post. i.e white socks for sale, red socks, best blue socks. Whatever we find that has lots of searches. But we need to go for something that is very popular and in the best sellers lists for that niche in amazon. And it should ideally be for $100 dollars or more. If we are going to get to the 8% commission payout on Amazon then we only need to sell 4 items a day to make about $1000 a month. Sounds a little easier now doesn’t it? So, content written, keywords research done? Good, time for some sleep and see you tomorrow.
  2. Right, the content is done. We now turn our attention to backlinks. This is where most will freak out. You need to get 10 backlinks every day for the rest of this challenge. At least ten. If not more. So, to start with we are going to write 10 Postrunner articles every day. If you can’t do that in a day then something is wrong. It should take you about an hour and a half, sit down and write 10 posts in a row about your term. No distractions, no reading anything online. Switch the pc on and log in to Postrunner and write them without a rest. It is quick once you get in to it.
  3. Repeat
  4. Repeat
  5. Repeat
  6. Repeat
  7. Repeat
  8. Repeat
  9. Repeat
  10. Repeat
  11. Repeat
  12. So, we now have 100 article submitted that will eventually give us 100 links. Time to give them a tiny boost so they are indexed. Use the free ImAutomator as well as Onlywire and bookmark them all. You may wish to do this daily as you get notified that your articles have gone live. I would recommend this. You are now going to have to dip your hands in to your pockets. Go to Backlinks Philippines and buy a backlink package that you can afford. I would go for an 80 package at least, if not a 120. Very inexpensive and well worth the money. If you can’t afford it or something then use this $8 package for 50 sites to get links from high PR sites that I talk about on the tools to succeed page. It will take you half a day to submit to them so you may have to split the work over a few days while you are also doing the other stuff too. Again, if you do the links yourself make sure to bookmark every one as you go. If you get John from Backlinks Philippines to do it he pings all the links for you. You could also bookmark them if you wish once he sends you the final report in a week or two.
  13. Back to Postrunner. You may well find that you have used up most or all the sites that are even remotely in your niche. Use all the general article directories there as well. This will probably be about it for Postrunner but just keep submitting articles until you have links form anywhere you can on there. Do it as part of your daily activity until you have used up as many as you can.
  14. let’s see where we rank? Hmm, are you there yet? I doubt it for anything that is highly competitive but who knows, maybe you are already there. But the chances are that the Backlinks Philippines package will not be completed for a week or more. Don’t forget to tell John that I sent you there, he likes to know where to send the big affiliate commissions to πŸ˜‰ Hey, we are all here to make money, right?
  15. So, we are still dong the Postrunners every day until we can’t use any more of their sites. Now we can submit to all the usual suspects. Today send an article to Ezinearticles, easyarticles, articleblast, and any other usual suspects and maybe an Infobarrel too. Optional but this is well worth the money if you ask me. Backlink Solutions. Join on day 1 and you may get in before the month is up. They only ever accept new people now and then and it costs $97 a month. If you join then you will have to submit a spun article in to their system. Look for a free spinner if you don’t own one or buy MAR. Do a 100 spins and set it to 20 submissions day. Half an hour gets you 100 links, not bad eh? I know this all sounds like you need to pay a lot of money so skip any paid for tools if you want. Apart from Backlinks Philippines and Postrunner. You need them to get enough links. Easy day today so get ready for tomorrow.
  16. It is competition time. Go to every listing on Google for the first two pages and if it is for an article rather than a homepage then turn on the free SEO Quake for Firefox, if you don’t already have it then download it. See what backlinks they have in their Yahoo link profile. You want to get links from as many of the same sources as you possibly can. 2 hours a day doing this will take some time so we will allow 5 days.
  17. Copy competitor links
  18. Copy competitor links
  19. “”
  20. “”
  21. “”
  22. Today we will take a look at our keywords stats to see what people are coming to our article for. We will re-work our post in a minimal fashion by adding in those terms to the post. We may need to add content or simply chane a few words around to optimize the post. Should take half an hour at the most.
  23. Spend a day going through the first ten pages in Google. Any site that may be even remotely suitable contact them and ask for a link to your post. Offer them something in return such as a link from another site that you own or offer to write them a Hub. This is going to take some time so get on with it. Contacting them all will take a couple of days.
  24. Carry on contacting owners.
  25. Continue writing your Postrunners if you can or if not then set up links on article directories for two hours. Ten articles minimum either way.
  26. For the next 3 days we will write 6 Hubs. 2 today all pointing a link to our main article.
  27. 2 Hubs
  28. 2 Hubs
  29. 10 Postrunners to 2 Hubs
  30. 10 postrunners linking to 2 Hubs, and as it is the last day another 10 Postrunners linking to the last 2 Hubs. They should be a longtail version of your main keyword and should end up making money in their own right. Or write 15 postrunners on the last two days each.

So, a complete guide to making some serious money in 30 days. Don’t worry if you are not ranking super amazing today, give it another month for all the links to consolidate. If you work like this for two hours every day then you do not need millions of bits of content online. Work the stuff that you make money from very hard. And you may even find that this is still not enough links. If not do another Backlinks Philippines run and just note on your submission that you want links from different sites to the last submission, they are great like that.

If you want to really make money then stop using all of your time writing content for your own sites. You should spend 90% of your time getting backlinks to your content. Most people simply never put this in to practice.

In reality this is just an example of how you should really be working your content to get it ranking. You don’t have to follow it exactly. But the truth is a lot of people seem to really want a concrete system to follow. This works and works well but if you can’t fit in a few hours a day for your business you are going to take a long time to get anywhere.

Anyway, use the tools I talk about if you can or simply do the best that you can with free stuff. But Postrunner at least is a must for a month, it costs a dollar. And I now find Backlinks Philippines absolutely invaluable too. Just don’t be scared of going after the big stuff. Use your imagination, go for something tough, you may just find the rewards are more than worth it. All the tools I talk about are on my Tools To Succeed page.Β  Just don’t buy anything unless you can afford it. I spent a long time doing fine without buying anything, it just depends on making sure that you do the work either way. If you run out of places to get links from because you don’t want to buy any tools then simply go through all the sites you have already submitted to and do it again. 2 links from a site is not a bad thing, just use a slightly varied anchor text.

Off on my hols so see you in a week. Anyone who has not commented before will stay pending until I return. And let’s get busy people.

    Andy, I bet in a couple of months it is well over a grand. You can take me out for Dinner then. But in a manly way. Steak and beer, no holding hands. OK?

  2. Step by step blueprint, monster post mate. Thanks a lot for sharing this, ummm and just about 4 months before christmas too.

    Tara, get a few of those goodies up for the big shopping time and you will be in the money.

  3. Steak and beer? Hand holding? I saw both those scenes on Dexter today. Mano-a-Mano.

    You’ve got me all wrong though dude. My body is a temple. Nearly 4 months sans booze. It actually takes more will power to write articles all day than it does to stop drinking!

    -1 Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    πŸ˜‰ I once went 8 hours without drinking but I was asleep so not sure if it counts.

    When I get back I am seriously cutting back though, time for some very serious work for the rest of the year. Gotta get to our $30K a month goal next year. I reckon it is possible if we average it out through the year if Christmas can be good. Gonna beat my $8K Amazon cheque record this year even if it means, gasp, NO VINO!!!! Arrggggghhhhhhhhhh.

  4. OMG!!!! Dave you are the best!!!!! btw i just got my first click from my little experiment and that page has only been up 3 days and on first page of google. however it did not convert… that’s OK I will have conversions soon…

    quick question… if i do a generic shopping site and have categories would the method you are describing here work for that. if i put the site up and say have categories for home and garden, electronics…. etc.

    -1 Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    Oy you lot I am trying to pack my luggage. Dee that is great, if you are ranking and getting clicks already then that is a god sign. It will work on anything, but not for a site that is brand new, it would be too much too soon. If you don’t mind waiting for the rankings though then you could still do the work.

    As to the backlinks I would mostly do the links for the main term and just maybe 1 in ten for the subheadings. Of course, if you find that you make more from the sub headings then boost up the links for them.

  5. Oh Dave I forgot to ask. when we write the articles for backlinks.. should the textlinks for the backlinks be for the main post title ie. socks or should it be for the subheadings, Bright Colored Socks with Strips ….

  6. Great article as usual Dave!
    First I just want to say I’ve gone from nothing to my first $100 month (with various sites) with amazon since I began reading you in June. Thank you.

    A couple of questions. I have a 1 week old hubpage I want to use for this experiment. This is a popular gift (I hope) for Christmas. What is a static image for hubpage and what do I do with it? Is it an image with a link to amazon?

    Why wordtracker over adwords? Any words of wisdom on how to use wordtracker?
    Will we be seeing an article on how to use wordtracker? (hint hint).

    Thanks!

    -1 Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    JohnM, if you make $100 then you can make $1000, the only way is up. Nice work.

    For Hubpages they like you to use the Amazon modules. But a work around is to use an image module. Upload an image and have it a quarter size, top tight. That is what I mean by static image. i.e they are not able to be used as a link to click. Then add a text link module below it with a call to action. i.e click here for the great cheap white socks I found on Amazon.

    Wordtracker is simple. Got to http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com/ and type something in. You then get a list of words and the daily searches. Socks is 2,398 but there are other things of interest. Knee high socks is 724 (any ladies, you are allowed to send me photos of you in your knee high socks and Japanese school girl outfits if you must), and there are plenty of toher great ideas there too. I prefer Wordtracker as it is quick and simple and there is no messing about.

    Just typing in socks gives you a ton of quick ideas for articles, same for any product. Hope that helps.

    Mmmm, knee high socks.

    See what you went and did JohnM, I hope you are happy now πŸ˜‰

    Right, laptop off and I am outta here for a week. Talk amongst yourselves. Whoever leaves the best comment in the week I am away gets $5, and I am serious about that so help each other out and leave some good advice for each other and I will pick a winner when I return from my swanky Croatian Hotel. Man, this time last year we had like twenty cents in one account and minus a grand in the other. This is what a year can do.

  7. Dave,

    If you Google “loose socks” you get a feel for what it’s like to live in Japan.

  8. Dave,
    I think I might have just fallen in love. This is exactly what I’ve been looking for. A guide that clearly explains the process and principle without holding your hand. This post should not be without the donate button.

    Love always,

    Jim

  9. “I love you man!” I think that just won the best comment contest. NO! Hmmm. Well I did figure you weren’t into ass kicking.

    Thanks for another great post.

  10. Is this the sad but true fact about the IM business you were talking about in your crap post from a few days ago?

    It’s not a bad guide. Not sure if I’ll follow it to the letter, because I already have so many PostRunners and also a few Hubs and InfoBarrels.

    Looks like I can pick this up somewhere halfway and mix it up with some of my own strategies.

    -1 Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    Blackthorne, it isn’t that post, it will be coming in a week or so. I have a lot of work to catch up on.

  11. Dave,

    I actually signed up for the Keyword Academy to use the Post Runner system a few days ago thanks to your suggestion.

    I do have a question though. The last time I chatted with you, you mentioned a few “adult” (or adult-themed) Hubs that you made. I probably should have sent this in a private message/email, but I wanted to know how you create links for the particular Hubs since most websites prohibit linking to “adult” content, even if it’s promoting a particular adult book, etc.

    Are you using the PostRunner system to help you build links or another network in the “Tools I use” section?

    -1 Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    Yolanda,

    I am not sure where that came from as I have no adult themed content at all. Unless you count all the piccies of you lot in Japanese school uniforms you kindly sent me and I make a mint off πŸ˜‰ Just joking.

    No, you must have me mixed up with someone else, but you could certainly use forum profiles like Backlinks Philippines for it I am sure.

  12. Dude
    Who would have though there would be so much cash in white socks. At least it beats the silly x-factor stuff like red microwaves.
    Great ideas. I’ve tried out your mate at Backlinks Philippines on a couple of hubs and got some good traction though they tanked again after about two weeks – I’m waiting to see if its just the usual Google jiggy or whether they’ve rumbled me for funny business. And thanks for the tip on the affiliate link and static image. The Hub Amazon modules draw clicks nicely and convert pretty well but it would be nice to keep a few more clicks for me.

    Jon, I am sure that the Hubs will bounce back. Let me know it is always good to get feedback on these type of things.

  13. Oi Jon,
    Don’t diss them red microwaves. There is gold in them.
    I’ve seen the same happen with a couple of hubs of mine. All the high comp ones. The mid-low competition ones stay there and I’ve seen some improve. I am pretty sure its because I added 20 PsR posts for a week straight and then let the hubs go. Will let them marinate a little before I spend more time on them. Will keep you guys posted on this.

    @ Blackthorne
    I was wondering the same thing. Seems to have taken a different tune than I would’ve expected. But them what do I know.

  14. @ Wishal – I’ve been searching for decent dramas ever since The Wire but nothing comes close. I didn’t watch Dexter when it was on first time round so I’m just getting into it now. It’s quite addictive.

  15. Dave –

    Oh wow. Just another fine post from you – I have to say it was Yolanda that brought me back (hey, Yo!) – I’m jealous. You killed it.

    Great intel, Dave – and good readin’. Another 20 minutes lost. $##!! you, Dave. πŸ™‚

  16. From the How To Make 2 Thousand On Hubpages In 2 Months post. Just in case someone missed it.

    Dave:
    “JohnM, she (and I ) does postrunners first for a few weeks, maybe a few a day, to ease in the hubs then it is an all out attack using backlinks philippines, a 200 submission, and 100 spins on backlink solutions. Plus continued postrunners. Gotta put the work in for the good stuff.”

  17. Great Post Dave,

    But don’t discount the lower priced Amazon products as well. They have a few advantages – not as much competition with other affiliates, you’ll be able to sell more thus get up to your 7-8% commission faster, and of course my favorite reason – because amazon customers ALWAYS seem to add extra stuff to their carts so you’ll probably get some high priced items anyway without even trying! I would say 70% of my amazon sales are from stuff I’m not even promoting!

    Also the warrior forum special offers section often has some good backlink services as well, I think there is one up there at the moment that will blast your article to 1000 low quality article directories for $5, and for another $5 they’ll even write the article for you LOL. (Most of the ebooks in the WSO section are crap, but you can often find some decent backlink services).

    Hope you are having a good hol’

    Hey Tracey,

    Good advice as always. I was jsut trying to show folks that it can also pay off to chase some more competitive terms as well as the lower hanging fruit, so to speak. But yeah, the cheap items should never be ignored to get the % up.

    We got to just over $4K for our Amazon stuff for August even though it is not our main arena so I am well pleased. For the next 4 months it will now be Amazon all the way so I am expecting some very god cash this year from them.

    I, GULP,

    will go and have a look at those WF special offers.

    (I said that in a whisper though. Shhh) πŸ˜‰

  18. What do the numbers mean in the free keyword tool? If I type in a keyword, at the top of the table the word you typed often has a massive number next to. Then if you look down the table you will find your keyword with another lower number next to it.

    I take it the lower number if the exact count of purely that keyword but the large number is the total of all searches including your keyword?

    -1 Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    Colin,

    It does not give options for exact or broad in the free version but from testing the numbers are pretty accurate for the individual terms and the numbers next to them if you rank for that word or longtail.

  19. I’m going off topic again, but this seems to be the blog to share info about stuff, so here goes.

    About a week ago, Yahoo in the US started displaying Bing search results – and this now gives Bing a 30% market share in the US. They will be rolling this out internationally later this year.

    How to rank for Bing is a whole other story, but this comment is actually about Yahoo Site Explorer.

    Yahoo Site Explorer exists only because Yahoo is still spidering the web. What happens when they stop?

    So – my advice is to take point 16 in Dave’s post really really seriously. In fact do it before you do everything else, and build up a massive spreadsheet of your competitors backlinks, and backlinks in general.

    Because if Yahoo Site Explorer winks out, then we’ll all be working in the dark (apart from those with deep pockets who can build bots to spider the web themselves).

    -1 Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    Teatree that is a very good point. I had not thought of it. I wonder what will happen? I wonder if we will get some equivalent and what that may be I am not sure or how long the or…………….

    Bugger. The missus just told me off for being on the Internet after we just got home. She said you lot got on just fine without me and seem to like to use this site as a forum anyway (which I am very pleased about), chat as much as you like and help each other out.

    Anyway, I will resume tomorrow when I won’t get told off. Apparently we are still on holiday until then.

    Oooh, and I picked up some Croatian Pinot for tonight too, man that is some good stuff.

    @Dave, Quite a late reply to this comment, but if you haven’t heard of it then Majestic SEO is a decent alternative to YSE. It’s a little harder to use, and you have to sign up (for free) to really get into it, but they tend to show a hell of a lot more backlinks than YSE.

    -1 Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    @Craig,

    Thanks for that, I will definitely be checking it out. Never too late for a comment Craig, it is always appreciated.

  20. Im not sure the keyword academy is even a $1 anymore could be wrong but i think the first month is completely free.

    Im still experimenting with hubpages got about 5 all backed up with BLS gona write 25 – 30 postrunners for each as well as a 200 link package from backlink philippines im just wary of hitting them to hard with links to fast but theyr about 2-3 weeks old now, no rankings what so ever though but with age i see no reason why the wont show up on page uno.

    For those that dont mind a little bit more work it might be an idea to set up some e-commerce sites using dropshipping get paid straight away, iv got 5 two are starting to rank and ones making a few sales here and there, defiantly worth looking into diversity is key and all, plus higher margins. πŸ™‚

    Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    Len, Hubs seem to be able to take a lot of links quick, especially if you start off for a few weeks keeping the numbers fairly low. I used to really want to get in to dropshipping and there are some great comapnies out there, especially in Hong Kong, but I am just too damn lazy for that. But there is some very good money to be made by cutting out the middleman.

    Todd, I think you are right. I just advise a little caution with new sites mainly to cover my own back πŸ˜‰ I think that for most people the problem is that they are waaaay to conservative with backlinking. It is what they should spend nearly all their time doing, and I have even finally taken my own advice on that one. From now on I won’t even write a post if it does not get 9 or more links to it. Why write the content if you are not going to spend the time to get it ranking properly. We are all guilty of this yet we all know that backlinks are what give us the high rankings.

    And as to Backlinks Philippines, they work like a dream don’t they. I got a Hub for a very competitive term to middle of page 1 while I was away for a week just by using a big package from them. I agree, anyone who says profile links don’t work is wrong, at least for now. BP use such high PR sites that you get a decent amount of juice and they all add up. I would always get other links too though and never rely on just one source though.

    Tammy, to link to a search result just go to amazon and type in your query. Then with the results that show up use the link to this page button on the top left of the screen and put in the text you want. Job done. I will mostly use the same keyword anchor text but will add in some of the other main keywords I am targeting too. But just using the same anchor text has always worked very well for me.

    As to how to get links form others, offer them links from something else you have written, a blogroll, offer to write a guest post, offer to write a squidoo lens for them, offer them money, I have not done this (offer money) but I get approached a lot for some of my sites with people offering cash for links. I even have a site that I get $20 a month for putting a link on it and get a number every month. People will be happy to put a link on even a high PR article if you offer them cash.

  21. @ teatree
    If I were you I wouldn’t worry about it as much. There are a number of alternatives out there and while they might not be as detailed as Y! backlinks, I have found them to be more usable i.e they provide more actionable data.

    The are open site explorer, linkscape and others. I also expect SEO Spyglass to step up to the plate on this one and really incorporate some more ways to get backlinks in there. Expect to pay up to $100 a month, but then you should be making that already if you need data from the competition!

  22. I have been looking at the keyword tool and have found a couple of things I would like to look at. What do you guys do to find a domain name?

  23. Out of curiosity, how do these hubs do with adsense?

  24. You know what, with some of the experimenting I have done I am just not sure that adding links too fast and getting into some trouble with Google is accurate. I have pages that were put up, I linked to them almost from the beginning, I linked to them with lots of links…and they are doing well in the rankings and they have been there for awhile now.

    Think about it, if getting lots of links to your site or a page to your site quickly was bad…then geez, your competitors could really really mess you up. They could throw hundreds, if not thousands, of links at your new site and get you in trouble. I am not sure Google would allow this.

    Just get links!! Dave is right and I am finding this out….most of your work should be getting backlinks to your site and pages from as many sources as possible.

    Also, I read with total amusement that profile backlinks are no longer effective. I actually read that on a site the other day. Well let me just say this.

    I went through Dave’s link to Backlink Philippines (GREAT country by the way, I love it there) and I ordered some backlinks to a few particular pages I wanted to really give a kick in the rear to.

    Well after three weeks, two of the three pages (with only BLP links) are now NUMBER 1 for the keyword phrase I am after….and they are NOT really easy keyword phrases to go for. I am totally amazed at how well this worked. Will they stick and stay there? Who knows but for now they have worked.

    Again, I am not claiming to be an expert at all..I just know that getting backlinks to your site and pages is really important and getting links fast is usually not a problem. Some people will disagree, but I think if you really take a close look at it, it would not make sense to hurt a site just because they suddenly started getting a lot of backlinks. I could destroy a number of new sites that are competitors of mine if that were the case,

  25. @Todd

    I think the problem is when you start sending thousands of low quality links at a brand new domain. Even if you are just sending a few you can get “sandboxed” for a week or two.

    On the other hand, you could literally send 10k links a day to a hubpage because the domain already has the trust of the search engines. However, it wouldn’t surprise me if you tipped someone off at hubpages that you are spamming. I think this happened with one of my pages.

  26. @ Josh
    Have a look at TKA’s HubPages experiment. Am on the phone but will post links as soon as I am front of a computer.

  27. @Wishal

    I have been spamming links with scrapebox at a hubpage for weeks. It was showing 10k links before hubpages decided to delete it. I don’t think it was ever “sandboxed” for more than a day. Also, it was deleted because they randomly added “no electronic cigarettes” to the TOS, not because of the linking.

    However, I have been doing something similar to a squidoo lense and its currently not showing up at all in google’s or yahoo’s index, but I have also had infobarrels get sandboxed and I never sent them a single link(some of these are still not appearing in the index even after several months). I think it really depends on a lot of factors and link velocity is only one of them.

    @Josh, Josh, did they delete your hub or your account?

  28. Found your site via The Average Genius…you have some great information. Just a few questions in regards to working through this challenge:

    1)How do you link to a search result of the product?

    2)When writing the 10 PostRunner articles do you use the same keyword that you have written your main article for or use related keywords (a little confused as to your wording ‘term’)?

    3)If you use a hubpage for this challenge is there any specific way that you go about getting other related websites to link to you for days 23/24?

    Thanks.

  29. @ Josh

    I was talking about the Out of curiosity, how do these hubs do with adsense? but what you said is useful data nonetheless. Here are the links I was talking about.

  30. Really interesting hearing all the opinions and experiences of link velocity and sandboxing etc. One question I have is, is it better to use a service like Backlink Phillipines to get links to a hub which links to a post, or can it be used to send links straight to a post itself? If the latter, what then is the purpose of the hub?

    Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    Jim, the Hub is a link from a high authority site plus it is a money maker in its own right. If you can get links from sites that also make you money then so much the better. Shetoldme, squidoo, Infobarrel etc. Even snipsly does well. Always go for links from revenue sharing sites when you can, believe me it adds up over time. A couple of bucks a day from Infobarrel, shetoldme etc all adds up at the end of the month.

    Jason, they have worked great for me and I have had no probs at all. Thanks for the sign up.

  31. I am doing both and it is working well. I send links to the Hubs which also have links to my main pages, I also send links straight to the main pages.

    I would rather have the post on my site rank higher than the Hubs because I do not share revenue that way, but it seems like boosting a HUB that links to your post also helps the post. Just not sure yet.

    “The purpose of doing both?” Really simple, the more you have ranked high the better you have of getting someone to one of your sites, whether it be your own site or a Hub. Of course if you had to choose which one to rank better it would YOUR own site.

    It is never a bad thing to have a LOT of your stuff ranked high…even if it is something you have to share revenue.

  32. Quick question and it is probably a dumb question… if I am promoting an amazon product, how do i get the picture to show up with the price and the customer rating along with the buy link. Do i have to that manually? or is there a plug in for that… and Im not talking about autoposting. Ive seen some sites like this but they dont look like autoblogs.

  33. @Dee
    Use wpzon(free) or phpzon.

    You can’t add prices manually because Amazon has issues with you displaying wrong prices/discounts. Your prices may be right now but they keep changing so what is right info today could end up as wrong tomorrow.

  34. Sounds like a pretty sound plan if you actually follow it! I think too many people just don’t put in the time and would be turned off by the 100 articles. Making money takes work.

    I have been member of Keyword Academy for almost a year now and I love it. Post runner is awesome for link building. And it is free now for the first month and you don’t even have to lose that $1 to follow this plan.

  35. thanks Wishal! Ill check them both out. do they add the customer ratings as well. I could also put a disclaimer that price is subject to change

    Which is preferred: Magic Article Submitter or Magic Submitter?

  39. Loving this post – very up to date too. A lot of the other stuff out there have been affected by the latest algo change. Appreciate it. Thanks!

    Question on this if I may – if you don’t have an aged (3 month old) website and is just starting out, do you think I can start now and be at this position in 3 months (i.e. I’m behind by 3 months) with my own domain? I’d rather have my own properties than Hubpages, even though it’s the faster way.

    Cheers

    Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    Derek,

    Absolutely. Start a new site and work it efficiently and build up the backlinks day by day. In 3 months it can be making some good money and you can really begin to rank for some more competitive terms.

    Blackthorne, if I am doing a spin just for Backlink Solutions then it can be short, I go for 250 words 50% spun if I only want 1 link in the articles. For 2 links it has to be over 300 words, but yeah, it don’t take long. If it was to be for Hubpages and other such sites where it actually gets read then it would take longer as I would want the quality to be top notch.

  40. Thanks!! Will do

  41. every now and then I take alot at this post to get inspiration on just what is possible to earn on amazon per month http://www.affiliateblogonline.com/2009/12/02/how-much-did-we-make-on-amazon-this-month/ however, I dont think I would pay $97 for the ebook blue print. I believe Dave provides enough strategies here that anyone could achieve the same results as these ladies.

  42. ” If you join then you will have to submit a spun article in to their system. Look for a free spinner if you don’t own one or buy MAR. Do a 100 spins and set it to 20 submissions day. Half an hour gets you 100 links, not bad eh?”

    You write a spin article in half an hour?

    I thought a good spin was supposed to take 5 hours.

  43. Not sure where this would slot in but over the last month I’ve been trying bits of stuff that Dave has recommended and one of my sites – that has made 0 for the last year – made $8.23 in commission two days ago and then another $10.15 last night…..now I know this could be a lucky glitch but 2 days in a row makes me really excited! This is a domain I have had for a while and stopped promoting ages ago until I found Dave’s blog; I don’t have a lot of time to follow his suggestions as much as I would like but to have gotten results after a month of trying a little bit of what he recommends is a fantastic feeling!

    The things I implemented were:
    -Changing the site layout so that it looks more like a storefront and not an ugly blog (I’m selling physical products via CJ)
    – did 10 postrunners for the entire month
    – checked my stats to see what keywords people were using to find me and writing posts based on those keyword phrases to put on my site
    – using buying keywords in my post titles
    – submitted 1 or 2 articles to Ezinearticles
    – Did the 80 batch package of Backlinks Philipines links but spread out over 5 sites of which this was one site
    – added sidebar links (which are the links that bought in the sales)

    Can’t wait to see what happens when I find the time to implement his 30 day to $1000 plan πŸ™‚

  44. Hey there Dave,

    I don’t mean XXX adult content, but I believe you mentioned something about building a Hub on “nude yoga” reading/bestsellers, and so I was curious as to how in the world you got PostRunner submissions to that type of Hub — if you even used Hubpages at all.

    …but thanks for the forum profiles suggestion.

    Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    Yolanda, I think I know what you are talking about. I think I must have mentioned in a comment here somewhere that someone had bought a load of books on naked Yoga and other such things. Even the other day I sold a load of books on Amazon, one including how to give a great b**w JOB! But that is just the weirdness of what people buy, the sales were nothing to do with anything related to the sites.

    Honestly, I am a nice boy and am squeaky clean. Not through lack of trying though πŸ˜‰

    Man, this time zone thing gets me. I never know what time it is for those in the US. And it makes it hard to make sense of stats too as everything is so far off from my time zone. Seems as you lot are just starting your day I am finishing mine. Anyway, it is 10:45 PM here so time to sink another bottle or 10 and then off for some beauty sleep (I need it), have a good day.

  48. Hi Dave,

    Do you have any advice as to when not to use the backlinks PH service? Such as if you’re ranked in the top 20 or if you have already had the service sent 200 links to it already within the last month for example. Just wondering when to know how much is too much. Thanks.

    Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    Private, that is a tough one. The older the site the more it can handle. If by 200 links in a month you mean that in total then you can send more. But if you mean a 200 package where you could have had close to 1000 links then I would chill for a few months. But you could certainly use an 80 link package every month to a site with nothing but good. But make sure to also get plenty of links from other places.

    But this is just speculation from my own findings on my own sites. As usual my disclaimer applies. i.e If you tank it is your fault not mine πŸ˜‰ And if you rank well then it is all down to me πŸ˜‰

  49. Dave, for this experiment, are you talking about targeting 1 keyword? If so, when using backlink PH, if I buy the 80 links package, does that mean I will get 80 links? Since they allow multiple links, should I throw in some other keywords in order to get more links overall or will that dilute the strength of the links?

    Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    Private it will dilute the links but I always give 5 links and it still works well. I am sure it would work even better if you don’t mind paying the money and just getting 80 links. You could even send some links to other backlinks you already have to boost them as well.

  50. Hmmmm, well I had someone recently buy a “womens” toy from going to one of my five sites. And I can guarantee you that none of the five sites I have has anything to do with this “special little toy!”

    I have also had people buy lentil soup, neon Bibles, and socks….and NONE of my sites are even remotely close to those things.

    I think this is one of the great things about Amazon. Get them to Amazon and hopefully they buy what you are getting them there for…but they could also literally buy anything there and you get a commission for it.

    I really can’t wait for the Christmas season, it is going to be interesting to see how sales do during that time. I am fairly new to the Amazon deal but I can see the GREAT potential of Amazon during the Christmas season and other holiday seasons.

    The key is to be ready for them, I wish I had started many many many months ago. But with the help of Dave I am doing better than I have ever done before (very modest sales right now ) and it is getting better.

    For those of you that have Amazon sites and are fairly new to this like I am, I think the months of October, November, and December could be really interesting. Get your content up and get the links.

    Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    Todd now is certainly not too late for Christmas. I made $2K last year over Christmas with a site I started about now. I just put lots of work in and did a few backlinks every day and built up the linking without going too crazy. You just wait, people go bonkers.

  52. Hi Dave,

    Just a quick question…

    I don’t think I can afford post runner just now. What is it that they do?

    I have a site with 5 keywords. A product type and 4 products and I want to try and get them to number one.

    What is the best approach for this?

    Does writing 10 postrunner articles mean writing an article, spinning it and submitting it to 10 article directories?

    Cheers

    Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    Colin, Postrunner is a part of the Keyword Academy, link in the sidebar. It is a collection of blogs that you have access to from a simple dashboard when you join. Each article you put in the system is hand written not spun and you can put 2 links in it. It is $1 or free (need to look) for the first month so is affordable. I would do that then cancel if you don’t like it.

    But just do normal article marketing if you don’t want to use it. Submit to ezine, amazines, easy articles, articleblast and Infobarrel, snispsly etc. And anywhere else you can get a backlink.

  53. Cheers Dave.

    When you guys write all these articles are they related to your keyword? I have heard people say that they write about anything really,

    Cheers

    Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    @Colin Young,

    Look at it this way from a purely personal point of view. If you were reading an article about the rain forest would you be pleased or annoyed if there was a link in it to making money online?

    Would you feel you were better served if there was a link in it to how to save the rain forest?

    The more relevant the text around a link the more benefit the link will be.

    @Dave

    Is it that difficult to write 100 articles around the same article? It sounds like a lot but I suppose it would depend on the keyword. If it is more broad then its probably easier. Is that correct?

    Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    @Colin Young,

    Bottom line?

    It’s boring! But just get creative to keep the juices flowing. Tell a story or something. You can really just keep re-writing stuff too but maybe a story helps the time pass quicker.

    The broader the topic the easier it is but that just isn’t always the case. I find a good way is to write articles telling people to price compare etc. Most postrunners will not get read by hardly anyone but the site owner anyway.

  56. I was browsing Backlinks Forum yesterday and found several exciting pieces of software and services.

    First one is software called Sick Submitter which is automated forum profile creator / backlink poster / RSS submitter / pinger / directory submitter / proxy manager etc. It is $20 a month, or $13 a month if you order it thru Backlinks Forum. There are paid and free plugins for backlink indexing, social bookmarking, etc

    Second one is service where you can get Xrumer blasts to your pages. It starts from $49 a month for 15000 links.

    Third is software called Scrapebox. It is multifuctional tool for harvesting forums and blogs to post your backlinks, and much more. This one makes me nervous, it is like Chuch Norris on steroids πŸ™‚ I think I have to stay away from this one. LOL.

    I’m trying to put some Amazon links into some aged Hubpages I have but the links Amazon provides are too long for the Hubpages link unit. The link unit chops them off and I get a broken link message on my Hubs.

  58. So I spent 5 dollar to purchase Paul’s list. I find something TOO GOOD to be true.

    Since most of my web properties are from hubpages, ezines, or infobarrels, I am not afraid to links to them all at once from the same profile page, so I actually put 30 links on a profile page for each profile account and I checked the page source to make sure it’s actually as good as it seems, and wahoo they are all dofollow links.

    Won’t that be even better than Backlink Philippines? because every profile page from the Paul list can give you dozens of do follow links, whereas BLP gives you 5 link max per profile page and they charge you 28 bucks per 80 profile page?

    That means I actually work 6 times as fast as the guy from BLP if I have 30 links to post on a profile page.

    Isn’t it too good to be true? Is there a penalty hidden somewhere I haven’t spotted yet?

    Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    @SK,

    There is a penalty SK. The fact that putting that many links on a profile page runs the risk of the site owner being much more likely to either take your profile page down or closing the site to new members totally. Then everyone loses.

    Don’t be greedy Dude, it will work out better in the long run to take longer making the profiles with 5 links or less in as they are much more likely to stay up, if the owner sees 30 they will take down the account for sure.

    Sorry to burst the bubble, I know things like that are very tempting.

    #4 makes me laugh and cry at the same time. Has anybody had their hubs deleted / acounts closed because of ‘excessive’ backlinking? Or is this just a warning for n00bs who think that Xrumer will help them to rule the World? πŸ˜€

    The bottom line is – if this is true, anybody can order Xrumer link blast to competitors hubs to get them deleted πŸ˜‰ /evil grin/

    @Johric, The video and the end of the article clearly state that In short, the best way to get backlinks is to write original, useful, high quality content. It’s that simple! You don’t have to do a thing. So take it easy! is the “reccomended” way to go about things.

    TY for the link Johric.

    @Johric,

    Now that is weird and worrying too. They must be covering themselves to try to stop people making too many spammy links.

    Another reason never to rely on earnings that are not from your own sites.

    But try getting a Hub to rank without links, that advice is odd to say the least.

    @Dave,
    Yes, they probably are worried that Google will devalue Hubpages in its search engine algorithm if there will be too much spam going on.

    I was not around at that time yet, but I have read about Squidoo slap when Google changed the algorithm and Squidoo started to rank much worse. So Hubpages management know the consequences.

    I believe that Hubpages need many incoming links. Hubpages.com as business entity is earning money from Adsense / Amazon / eBay / Kontera and what not. And they need good rankings for that. Too many bad links – hypothetical Hubpages slap will lead to decreased income. Too few backlinks – bad rankings will lead to decreased income.

    @Johric,

    I was around for Squidoo, didn’t have too many though, just a couple. It was how I first got started.

    They really have tried to clean house but I don’s see them in the serps like I used to. Same with Infobarrel now, we used to get regular money from adsense from them until very recently, but something has obviously gone on there too.

    Thanks for the link though, very interesting. Just a shame it is bad advice to those new to the game thinking they can now just write a Hub and leave it and make decent money.

    @Dave,

    that is worrying, i just smashed out another 50 articles today, pointing them to my hubpage as well as ordering 400 links from BP… that may be too many forum links…

    p.s i told john that i found him thru you. hopefully u get some comm.

    @hurley,

    It is an odd one.

    To be honest we have had good success really blasting Hubs with links but if they go they go.

    I am also annoyed that I now have a Hub that gets close to 2000 folks a day and no bugger buys hardly anything. It beats most of my whole sites for traffic but I am glad I didn’t try to build a site for the term that is for sure.

    Thanks for the mention to John, hopefully that many links won’t send it to oblivion. If it does then just link continually but slowly and it will bounce back big time. I often get it when I do a lot of links quickly, worst thing I have found is to panic and stop the backlinking totally.

    But I am guessing you are going for a tough term so that many links would probably be justified.

    A man’s got to do what a man’s got to do.

  61. Dave, I am a bit confused in regards to the free Wordtracker keyword tool. As a test I put in “home loans” and it came back 1899 searches in their partner network over the last 365 days. This doesn’t seem right.

    @Preston,

    It is confusing about how they work their stats. They say it is over a year but from testing and results they seem to average it out to a daily search number.

    @Dave,
    Thanks for the reply. I was also wondering whether or not you put ore than one link in the 10/day Postrunner posts. Do you think that only putting one link per article would get you to #1 faster? Thanks

    Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    @Preston,

    I normally put 2 links in, why waste it? But also mix it up a bit and use only 1 and change the position where it is in the article too.

  62. Are you successful without exact match domains?

    Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    @Andrew,

    Too right I am. For me the EMD is 1 keyword. I may send an odd backlink to it but I rank the home page mostly from internal linking. It is the individual posts that I make most of my money from and they are never part of the EMD keyword, just about that broad subject (sometimes). 99% of my links go to the posts never the home page.

  63. Dave:

    This is a noobish question, but anyway. I do have a 3-month-old product site (furniture) and for my main keyword I am currently ranking 11 in G. I was wondering whether it would make sense to apply the steps as you described in your post to boost it up into pole position. Again, the site is three months old, over 100 links in postrunner (to that particular post), blogrolls and links from some of the biggies (ezine, hub, go-articles). In other words, a lot of the ground work is already done. However, the keywords I’m talking about is certainly not an amazon bestseller (but definitely sold through amazon).

    Or would it make more sense to go with a keyword that is truly an amazon-bestseller?

    Thanks.

    @Dieter,

    I guess it really is down to the potential. If you think you can make money from it long term then I would do the work. But I would also go for some biggies too.

    What I have definitely found is that some items, even if they are the bestselling in the category, do not always make the same number of sales as if you ranked in the same position for something that may only be number 20 in the list. Just one of those weird things to make our life difficult.

    Which is why I always say go for lots of products and not to concentrate only on one.

    Anyway, hope that helps a little and thanks for dropping by Dieter. Let me know how it goes.

    @Dave, Thanks for sharing the insights, Dave. Well, I signed up with backlinksphilippines (yes, I told John that you referred me to them) and will use their services for a couple of keywords I am already ranking for decently. But I will certainly try an experiment with some amazon bestsellers by following your step-by-step guide, too.

    Thanks again for sharing!

    @Dieter,

    Thanks for the sign up, you should see some good results.

  64. Hey Dave,

    Why don’t you use the Adwords Keyword Tool? Are the WordTracker results more accurate?

    Merci beaucoup πŸ™‚

    Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    @Pinkmaddy,

    I do now and then but basically I find wordtracker quicker and all that I need for a sense of keywords. But my best work comes from just being off the cuff and using buying keywords or just the main name of a product.

    De nada.

  65. Hi Dave,

    Thank you very much for this nice and encouraging post. However, I have one question.

    I came to know that hubpages have been badly affected by recent algorithm change of google.

    So, I am thinking of using blogger instead of hubpages.

    Would you please give your opinion on this?

    Thanks

    Vote -1 Vote +1Dave Reply:

    @Mohammed,

    Honestly? I am never toughing a free host again. Hubs are pretty much pointless at the moment, I don’t know how blogger is doing. But just don’t put all your efforts in to them. I had my very first site on blogger deleted last year along with another one and I put a lot of time and effort in to it.

    Luckily I had set up my own domain in the same niche too so could recover. Always rely mainly on your own sites.

  66. Thanks Dave

  67. The more I continue searching for new resources on making money online, the more BS I seem to find. Thanks 4 keeping it real Dave, a breathe of fresh air to say the least.

    Big ups!
